Religion and politics

We all know that the religious right wingers can make or break an election... Jerry Falwell and Richard Land proved that by trying to lean their respective congregations towards voting bush (bush still did not win but I am not discussing semantics here)

Do You think the church has a responsibility to state their opinions about candidates... or is that better left outside the realm of church going people? or a better question is.... What do you think the role of religion plays when going to the polls to vote, Statistics show that the "religious left" and "religious right" are about even right now. (23 percent religious voters being the right and 21% left...) Barak Obama, Mike Huckabee, and the rest of the candidates have all proclaimed faith. So they say they believe... now do we take that to the polls as a deciding factor? This is what our fore fathers fought for... freedom of religion? and they all have to be "born again christians"? anywho grab a pot of Coffee and let the debate begin! I love open forums

Vote Ross Perot...

I think that the teachers of the church should convey the truth about canidates, but not try to sway the votes of those that they lead.

when jesus was tempted in the desert by the devil, satan offered jesus rule over all the kingdoms on earth. one could only assume that meant not only the kingdoms of the day, but all to come...including the united states. jesus wanted nothing to do with it...kingdoms will rise and kingdoms will fall...only his will live forever. my vote is for jesus christ!

but my point is... i think its bullshit that american voters are influeneced by preachers and teachers of the word.... its a world that has to be governed... and governed by the most qualified people.... thats what should be put out there... can we be honest for a minute... we have all (myself included) become sheep ready to believe any lie fed to us by media, government, and even our own pastors... i know this is not the place to be honest because its a church blog... but let me know what you think..

my honest opinion is that i don't care who's elected. we all have engrained in our brains that all politicians are liars (along with lawyers and used car salesmen), so it doesn't really matter what they say right now. how is it really going to effect my life? or better yet, how will i allow it to effect my life? i don't know if church is the place for government and politics to be discussed, but i can tell you that i hope i don't have to hear it. borders were created by people with ego's and a lack for compassion towards their fellow man. that's not me...
